First "computer" startup
In 1939, two friends, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, started a business in a garage in Palo Alto, California. Their company, known as Hewlett-Packard (HP), became one of the world's most successful computer corporations. This example shows that startups can start anywhere, even in a garage, and grow into global corporations.
Startups in Antiquity
The concept of startups is not exclusively modern. Already in Ancient Rome and Greece there were analogs of startups. For example, many famous ancient architectural sites, such as the Acropolis or the Colosseum, were built thanks to ambitious projects that can be considered the predecessors of modern startups.
